forty-eight: “must I paint you a picture?” by billy bragg.

battery park. presumably a tourist. april 2012.

As a gal whose first lesson in muic was steeped in the loveliness of the 80’s, Billy Bragg is someone whose work with whom I’m more than acquainted. However, it was the soundtrack for Walking and Talking which, by the way, sums up NYC relationships to a perfection of which is normally unheard, I heard this song and fell in love.

Although this song does make its way into my rotation from time-to-time, it is the fact that Billy Bragg and Wilco recently released a new album, Mermaid Avenue – The Complete Sessions that I was reminded of this one in particular Billy Bragg song once again.

It’s bad timing and me
We find a lot of things out this way
And there’s you
A little black cloud in a dress
The temptation
To take the precious things we have apart
To see how they work
Must be resisted for they never fit together again
