one-hundred: “car” by built to spill.

key west. 27 september 2012.

I first fell for Built to Spill in high school. It was this song that I loved first.

You get the car, I’ll get the night off.
We’ll get the chance
to take the world apart and figure out how it works.
Don’t let me know what you find out…

he has officially replaced scott in my heart. I especially like the “performance drinker” link in there. it’s rather upsetting men like that don’t exist anymore… all rough and tumble like.

      • oh I’ll find you a ballantine’s man. I’m afraid you might be disappointed though.

      • amanda said:

as long as he looks and acts like hemingway, I will forgive all else. even if ballantine’s is repulsive in flavor, I can overlook that. I think.

      • oh I’ll find you a ballantine’s man. I’m afraid you might be disappointed though.

      • amanda said:

you were right. and to think this day was so perfect before that image. nice job, delsinger.

      • yeah, one should refrain from using google too much. ignorance is bliss. ballantines is owned by pbr, who outsources brewing to miller, and now they’re known for their forties. things change.

      • amanda said:

ew. you just couldn’t leave it alone with the rosacea-ridden lad, and spare me the rest, could you?

whatevs. hemingway was a proper whiskey-drinking man… that’s all that matters. actually, he was an everything-drinking man, so that works, too.

      • amanda said:

well well. fancy busy man. I guess that works since it’s not cmj.

      • not really, I just need to mentally prepare. see my shrink and so forth. luckily it’s not sxsw, coachella or lollapalooza either. not even halloween, even though it’s october. fancy that.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

you know what? I’ll do it right now.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

ugh so good. why am I not reading a fine novel in a coffee shop? those activities would make this even better.

      • amanda said:

I love it so much. I’ve had it on repeat for the last 24 hours… then I toss in the new godspeed for a round, then flip back to lord huron again. it’s just amazing.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

is godspeed also streaming abouts somewhere?

        jeremiah johnson

      • amanda said:

        haha. yep.

      • amanda said:

love it. although I’m not sure why patti smith was in there. ugh.

I listened to a reading by fitzgerald the other day… flitty lil’ thing. I do not approve.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

I don’t know, you tell me, you bought her book.

        a recording you mean?

      • amanda said:

yes, a recording of him reading some of his work.

and her book sucked. you still have it, so see for yourself the next time you’re desperate for written words.

have you heard that purity ring song I just posted? I can’t believe I’d been snubbing them because their name sounded like an emo band. dumb move.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

no I’ve never listened to them. for the same reason basically. I guess I’ check it out. and maybe I’ll throw out that book then, space being so tight and all.

      • amanda said:

listen to them. listen to that “fineshrine” first though. so good.

and don’t throw out the book. one should never throw out books. give it to someone instead. jesus, delsinger.

      • amanda said:

he’s such a cute monkey! I also want his specs. now.

and you shouldn’t be hanging around people who have kindles… they’re a scary lot.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

eh these guys can keep their sternums. too hip for me.

      • amanda said:

haha… I love the sternum line best!

        back to ryan…

      • christofferdelsinger said:

I don’t know anyone with a kindle. I see them abouts town only.

      • amanda said:

thank god. my sister has one… but, you know…

      • amanda said:

those are very cute. I think the black on you would be fun. did you do the virtual try on thing?

I ordered 5 frames from warby parker yesterday to try out. I’m ready for something more square, more tortoise, and more dorky.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

na, they look identical to the WP fillmore I have, just different color. that virtual thing sounds stupid.

      • amanda said:

exactly — they’re black. I think black would be swell in your collection of specs. YOU COULD BE LIKE A DIFFERENT PERSON EVERYDAY.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

I live to confuse jenny fa. a new pair of shoes and she can’t focus for the rest of the day. don’t even get me started on what happens when I show up in new glasses. in fact it’s so traumatizing and dramatic for her, I avoid it.

      • amanda said:

but you just said you live to confuse the fa. so doesn’t that mean it’s your duty to keep switchin’ up your look?

I’m still waiting for the day someone gives that chick an IQ test. I want those results.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

sounds like I need one too

      • amanda said:

well, if you can’t expect your duty to confuse a fa, then yes, you just might.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

see, I didn’t even understand what you were saying there. I was talking about contradicting myself. because that’s the most idiotic trait ever.

      • amanda said:

I thought you were responding to the gd IQ test… which didn’t make sense, but I was like “um, OK, I guess so, sir.” like that. that’s how it went in me brain.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

sadly they all feel a bit cheap, and one of my two pairs is crooked.

      • amanda said:

really? I guess it makes sense since they *are* cheap. but I really do not want to buy another pair of ray-bans this year.

I bet if you took ’em to the store they could put ’em in that melty plastic machine and fit ’em perfectly to yer face — no more crooked.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

better yet, put ma face in the melty plastic machine.

      • amanda said:

aww… sadness. I think part of yer face just died because you wrote that.

      • amanda said:

        nice hoodie, peter.

I’m kinda surprised they’re not playing more next week… just that one random show with wild nothing in union square.

      • amanda said:

if you still want to do brunch tomorrow, let me know. if not, then… well, maybe we can try again at a later date… or something.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

no tomorrow is fine. let’s call it lunch. it’s my new thing. feels classier. brunch is so jappy. hemingway would never do brunch.

      • amanda said:

fine. brunch is jappy and something jk would say, and yes, hemingway would never do brunch.

please choose a time that fits your fancy schedule, as I do not care for picking times when I’ve chosen the establishment at which to lunchums.

        best, chatel.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

        1pm

      • amanda said:

you do realize there will be a wait at that hour, yes? not that that can’t be quelled with a martini.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

obviously you should have picked the time. noon? I don’t eat lunch until noon.

      • amanda said:

        I don’t care! I’ll be up at 8 anyway.

but I suppose if you don’t lunch until noon, as most folks in the civilized world, then that will do. also, if you have not emotionally prepared for this meeting of the minds, please don’t worry about offending me with a cancellation. I know you do worry about such things.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

I don’t let emotions get between me and a trout.

      • amanda said:

well then. let’s hope it’s still on the menu.

so noon sharp. should you be running late, you’ll have to unblock me on the gmail or text me new # to let me know… as I will not be checking the blogums incessantly all morning. thanks.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

ok I’ll email. I don’t have your number.

      • amanda said:

it was time for a 917. 347 made me feel like an outcast. six months later, I still don’t have it memorized.

      • christofferdelsinger said:

yes you cried, said evil petty things, cried some more because I said we weren’t going to keep drinking, and forced me to hold your wonky paw. but you behaved for most of the lunch.

      • amanda said:

I threw out your photographs that I framed. I thought they might be worth something (read: mean something) someday… but… no sense in making petty insults I don’t mean, lubs.

My sternum can relax. Now. I wish you nothing but the b– b– best. I hope your life is a beautiful one, Christoffer. Really beautiful, and I hope you’re aware of it every second of every day you’re alive. And I mean that with all I have. All. You’re still the highlight of my life… so far. xo. Pants. (PS. She breaks your heart; I break her face.)
