When Jason Molina of Song: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. died two weeks ago, it was a devastating loss. He was only 39, and was a brilliant song writer whose heartbreakingly beautiful voice resonated just as deep as his painfully true lyrics.

“Being In Love” will always be one of my favorite songs by him. Always.

Being in love
Means you are completely broken
Then put back together

The one piece that was yours
Is beating in your lover’s breast
She says the same thing about hers

However I have gotten here
I have plans to be with you
And for the first time it is working

And I am proof that the heart
Is a risky fuel to burn
Yeah, we are proof
That the heart is a risky fuel to burn

What’s left after that’s all gone
I hope to never learn
But if you stick with me, you can help me
I’m sure we’ll find new things to burn

‘Cause we are proof
That the heart is a risky fuel to burn
Yeah, we are proof
That the heart is a risky fuel to burn

Trying to find the acoustic version of “Hysteric” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs was a feat… and one that I didn’t quite accomplish. The live version is gorgeous, but the crowd interferes with the sound. However, I found this one below. It’s a compilation of scenes from Je Vais Bien, Ne T’en Fais Pas starring one of my favorite actresses Mélanie Laurent… who, of course, is in one of my favorite movies: Beginners.

“You suddenly complete me…”

The only movie I brought with me to Paris is Beginners. Although I had seen it easily a dozen times before I left, including once in the theatre, I decided to bring it with me — for nostalgic reasons, of course.

But honestly, I can’t get enough of it:

Hal: Well, let’s say that since you were little, you always dreamed of getting a lion. And you wait, and you wait, and you wait, and you wait but the lion doesn’t come. And along comes a giraffe. You can be alone, or you can be with the giraffe.

Oliver: I’d wait for the lion.

Hal: That’s why I worry about you.
